glad to see CNN finally giving Alexandria some airtime. don’t get me wrong, i like CNN. but it’s establishment bias is a little annoying. congrats, Alexandria. we love you! =))

    • deepwhoreysin er

bridge4, now watch a state crumble amidst deep ignorance. if cnn gave more air time she would be laughed out of the state.

Want to here some Democratic socialists of the past the fucking Nazis

    • NDFOOTBALL

There is no difference between the principles, policies and practical results of socialism—and those of any historical or prehistorical tyranny. Socialism is merely democratic absolute monarchy—that is, a system of absolutism without a fixed head, open to seizure of power by all corners, by any ruthless climber, opportunist, adventurer, demagogue or thug.
When you consider socialism, do not fool yourself about its nature. Remember that there is no such dichotomy as “human rights” versus “property rights.” No human rights can exist without property rights. Since material goods are produced by the mind and effort of individual men, and are needed to sustain their lives, if the producer does not own the result of his effort, he does not own his life. To deny property rights means to turn men into property owned by the state. Whoever claims the “right” to “redistribute” the wealth produced by others is claiming the “right” to treat human beings as chattel.

powerful closing remark. i dig it! #teamalexandria

    • Ryan Chan

I’ve heard that Ocasio-Cortez was leaning towards Barbara Lee as speaker of the house.

    • bridge4

Ryan Chan is that a good or bad thing? I’d imagine it’s good since I already trust Alexandria, but I’m not familiar with Barbara lee

    • Ryan Chan

I would say its definitely a lot better than Pelosi. Don’t know much about Barbara Lee, but she is very progressive. She was best known to be the sole “no” vote against the war in Afghanistan after 9/11, the AUMF

    • +-OK Internet- This post did not age well

  4. Diana Troy

AOC handled that interview masterfully. The interviewer pushed and challenged her positions and she eloquently answered them all.

Now, I wonder if the anchor will do the same for establishment politicians who come on and push for war. Will she ask them where they will find the money to fund another war?

Will she ask establishment politicians who do not advocate for universal health care about how unpopular their views are and how all other developed nations get it done but the US can’t, AND if they are taking pharma and corporate medicine money, how can they advocate for working families?

    Will she do that?

    • Belgian Thunderstorms

CNN = fake news. Support progressives. We’re done with the establishment…

    • AroundSun

Ocasio-Cortez is just another leftist pandering to the radical elements of the Democrat base. She is a shining example of a liberal Democrat who lives in an insulated if not isolated world. She does not have a clue what the vast majority of Americans think nor does she care. In typical liberal fashion she is posturing and pandering. She knows full well her politics will never see the light of day and she has absolutely no chance of passing legislation through Congress. Like most Democrats, she does not care about facts or logic.

    • deepwhoreysin er

Diana Troy she answered as graceful as a blindfolded parrot with a whiffel ball bat duct tapped to it. god damn u people are stupid.

  5. arlingtonguy54

I’m an old white man from the south and I hope to have someone like her represent me in Congress. Congratulations!

    • Jimmy Hernandez

arlingtonguy54 well I’m a young Hispanic man from the south and I’m happy to not have a nutcase like her represent me and other Texans in Congress

    • 54- WHY should your race MATTER? i thought you lefties downplayed racial and gender preferences as “social constructs”.
the biggest racists, fascists and discriminators today are on the socialist left.
      affirmitive action quotas? discrimination!
PC and hate speech laws ? fascism!
carbon taxes? “redistribution” of middle class american wealth towards REAL polluters like China (who pays NOTHING into carbon credits).
it’s all a piecemeal slow march to Soviet Marxism- propagated with orwellian double speak through schools and the media and supported by “useful fools”who think taxpayers should fund lesbian dance theory classes and group identity courses for ANTIFA SJWs .

    • Yuri Orloff

arlingtonguy54 then you’re a damn fool, and you should move to the Bronx to be among your people.

    • conservative millenial

+Liberalism is A Mental illness the nazis were socialist after all

  6. Toby Dion

Trying to get that woman to say she’ll be loyal to the Democratic party no matter what crazy stuff they try to pull? Get out of here establishment News. You can’t buy her, and you don’t own her.

    • Toby Dion

Calm down, ok does establishment mean fake news, fake information? Does establishment mean “you’re not pushing my agenda”? You’re sounding kind of crazy here.

Also I don’t smoke, drink, or use drugs, I don’t even drink coffee, and I’m happy with my job.

The popular definition of socialism is bad, true, but what does that have to do with Democratic Socialism? We have socialist programs like social security, medicare, public schools, we pay taxes for government programs that help other people in different ways (will list lots of stuff we benefit from, love, and need after this). European socialism works hand and hand with capitalism. There’s a balance. Pure capitalism can ruin is as bad as pure, let’s say Soviet Russia socialism. Democratic socialism doesn’t aim to have government taking control of all American business, goods, and distribution of said goods.

Socialist things that make our lives better: Veteran’s (VA) Health Care, Jail/Prison system, Corporate/Business Subsidies, Museums, Polio Vaccine (given to the government for free to eradicate polio), Congressional Health Care, FBI, CIA, Farm Subsidies, War, Public Landfills, Garbage Collection, Bridges, Student Loans and Grants, Postal Service, Fire Department, Police, Public Libraries, Highways/Roads, Military/Defense, EPA, Public Parks, Elected Government Officials, Food Stamps, Unemployment Insurance, City/Metro Buses, Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), etc. (there are so so many, and they all sound so scary, terrifying, Mother Russia like!)

    • Victor Allen

Toby Dion the problem with socialism is that you all will run out of other peoples money, you saw how Bernie Sanders got shot down running for potus on that platform

    • Toby Dion

We’re running out of money paying for people’s emergency medical bills, increased medical costs compared to other countries, and horrible education. It will only get worse going down this road (people are going to pay for Trump’s tax cut for the rich, not middle class, rich which don’t expire), more deaths/bankruptcy because of the medical costs, and a less educated population. All for making a few extra bucks at every turn, businesses being able to buy politicians, and create situations that will earn their companies even more money.

To be honest, I don’t think I actually care, as I’m old enough that I won’t be effected, but I’m just interested in how this is all playing out because it fascinates me. People voting against their own self-interest. Look at that Hannity Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez bullet point list again, that stuff sounds good but people listening to him will be convinced that it’s all horrible and scary.

I think Bernie did better than great. Before he was not well known, and Hillary was as recognizable as it could get. Even with the Democratic party pushing against him he made it very far all without taking corporate PAC money, and the majority being small donations. It’s insane to me.

    • Victor Allen

      Is it 2020 already

  7. Wagner Jean-Francois

I’ll Agree The Anchor Is “Shilling” For SURE, BUT Her Questions Did Qualify Ms. Cortez.👍

  8. martin austin

Only when a true progressive creates the biggest political upset of the season CNN finally gives them airtime.

  9. Jackie Galaxy

Alexandria : 1 Poppy : 0. Poppy is so condescending.

  10. ArgentiumTea

That woman at CNN is really hostile

  11. MsRESPECT90

I don’t like Poppy’s attitude in this interview

    • Nancy Ejuma

MsRESPECT90 It only helped Alexandria demonstrate her excellence and coolness under pressure. Poppy is a hater. « I wasn’t doing that at 28… »… I think Alexandria’s age and inexperience had something to do with Poppy’s attitude.

    • ck9292

Poppy had a clear anti-progressive agenda in this interview. Unfortunately for her, Alexandria is far more competent than her at the young age of 28.

  12. Tod Brilliant

And the establishment tries to tear her down with her first interview…. and fails.

  13. androidbey

The interviewers looked pissed off because AOC would not fall into her trap.

  14. Geof Thompson

Intelligent, articulate, able to answer direct questions with honest replies. Now if you could just find another 3 or 4 hundred more like her and elect them all to office you might have yourselves a country worth living in.

  15. Gregory Wonderwheel

This CNN reporter is a stooge. Trying to get a single name for 2020 even before the 2018 election is pure crap.

    • Pamela Lawrence

Gregory Wonderwheel They know Bernie will be running. That’s why!
      brilliantmaps.com/did-not-vote

    • dsffg234

CNN haaaaate Bernie just as much as trump

  16. Tony Derby

My goodness, there is hope for America yet !! Bravo young lady, & massive congratulations from this old Brit !!

    • Piss Off

I think there is hope….then she opens her mouth and starts talking and morons applaud. Then my hope goes away again.

  17. Peaceful Journey

    This pundit is extremely rude

  18. Starseed Awakened

Damn already trying to get her stuck. Who else peaked that?

    • Pamela Lawrence

Starseed Awakened “IF you win in November…(repeat). It’s the same thing they said to Bernie! Watch Alexandria get screwed in November especially since she doesn’t really support the establishment Dems…WATCH!!!

  19. Mena J

Is it just me or is the interviewer extremely hostile to this young woman who is obviously very bright. She should use this same energy when she speaks to other politicians. She seems jealous to me. Hmm

    • Steve G

It’s not you. The mainstream media DETESTS Progressives, especially when they take one of their precious corrupt friends from them like Crowley. The attacks on Progressives will do nothing but continue and escalate, because this is the one group of people that CNN cannot tolerate gaining any power in our system. And Cortez is now working toward trying to build a caucus full of Progressives so they can block corrupt legislation if they don’t approve, which is absolutely tormenting the sponsors of CNN shows.

By the way, Cortez took no corporate money in her run–Crowley took 3.3 million dollars in corporate money. What does that money typically buy? TV ads. Who benefits when the parties put out TV ads? Entities like CNN. So in addition to ideologically hating her, they’re also treating her like “millions of dollars of lost revenue for us.” I’m surprised the host didn’t ask her if “someone with that long a name is really suited to being in Congress, because think of the money spent on the name plate.”

    • Laurette LaLiberte

Yes, but Alexandria always directs it right back to the issues!!

  20. The Amazing Lucas

She either extremely naive or extremely stupid
